Evolving with Love
It's the month of love!
So, is love always a beautiful thing? Not necessarily. It does involve blood, sweat, and tears or the equivalent at most times.
Self-love is not always warm showers or getting pizza or just doing the things that you love in your free time. It is about building a life from which you don't feel like you need an escape regularly. It is a process that might not be a path filled with flowers and butterflies. Firstly, we need to learn to accept ourselves and the place we are at present. Secondly, it might involve sacrificing certain things that are comfortable presently. You're going to be working on your long-term wellness and you are always allowed to decide your destination and the pace of it and evolve as you grow.
Personally, my destination was a place mentally where I feel like I don't have to prove anything to anyone and where I can find beauty in people, places, and all the little things in life — a place where I can care for people deeply. Also, to be sufficient even when I'm alone. I guess I'm somewhere near the whereabouts of this place I've dreamt of always. It has been a journey indeed and I've made a fair few sacrifices and difficult choices along the way and that's a story for another night. All I meant to imply is that your destination can be physically, mentally or spiritually defined. The preparation and effort come after this. For me, reading has always been an amazing way of understanding anything. Reading requires ample time and disciplined commitment. Even though I could not devote as much time as I wanted to, I was gaining some required knowledge. I wasn't satisfied with the pace of it. So, I went about asking and...
Psst... I'm going to let you in on a little secret. There is a bit of a shortcut! Literally, you've to go around asking! And then, you've to LISTEN!
Reading is great, yes. But, when a person you love shares their journey and the lessons that they've taken through their journey of life, the immaculate understanding and the sustainable motivation derived hits you in a deeper place. I'm quite blessed to have some amazing people in my life who have been through a variety of experiences in life. Me, being a greedy fellow like always, threw a question at each one of them asking about their life and learning. Hence put together with my own, bloomed a plethora of life-lessons. You cannot just implement each and everything in your life just because you know it. It needs to be refined based on your personality and your present state, your defined destination, the feasibility of the idea in your life and experimentation, like, "does it really help you grow?"
The whole process is definitely a grind, but you can make it fun in your way. You're amazing and I know you'll figure out a way to make it creative and fun. Also, personal time apart, try and involve your loved ones in your journey because sometimes along the way if it gets hard, a little word of faith, a hug, a hand to hold or just someone being there for you to talk to will help you go a long way in fighting the obstacles. Generally, these obstacles arise from within because you're moving away from what you thought was comfortable, but I promise you, once you're at your destination, you'll not regret the changes that you adopted along the way. It may be a difficult ride along the curves of the mountainous terrain, but the breathtaking view is always worth the effort.
I think we are always growing and evolving by absorbing the essence of the people and things that we experience. It is just about guiding our growth towards the place that we want to get to by creating a fruitful, like-minded, and beautiful habitat where we can be ourselves. An environment which induces us to explore our options to actualize our latent potential and help other people through it. Beyond the chaos, it's a beautiful thing, life. It hurts me to think of how there can be so much unrest, chaos and hate where there are also these beautiful emotions such as kindness, empathy and compassion. Let us all kindle and protect these emotions that make the world a wonderful place to be. Let's all evolve to accept ourselves and each other the way we are, beyond the physical, racial, religious, geographic and whatever other differences that exist. Let's learn to love humanity and protect it.
